CrossFit came into my life at the perfect time and place. After my last season of playing Junior A ice hockey, I made the transition to becoming a full time CrossFit athlete. I was previously “CrossFitting” for about a year in the off season during the summer with Coach Tim. I didn’t start taking CrossFit seriously as a sport until the buzzer went off in my last hockey game. It was at that moment when I decided to take my competitive drive and focus it on the “Sport of Fitness.”
My inspiration comes from the members at our box. They continue to impress me every day and fuel my desire to become better. To me nothing is more inspiring than watching one of our athletes Rx their first workout or shatter a Clean and Jerk PR by 20lbs. As a coach, you really get a sense of reward watching these moments. To the outside world it may just look like a bunch of people working out. But if you looked through the lenses of a coach you would see that it is so much more than that. You see the passion, raw emotion, and sense of accomplishment once the workout is over.
Coaching is something that I have been doing since I was fourteen, when I worked ice hockey camps in the summer. I love working with people and watching them improve, whether it be a teenager with his sites set on playing in the NHL, or an average Joe who has never worked out before. My goal as a coach is to help our athletes make positive changes in their lives through improving their fitness and becoming an active member of our “Maxability Family.”
Currently I am a coach at CrossFit Maxability, Ice Hockey Coach and Skating Instructor for the North Jersey Avalanche, a full time student at William Paterson University, and a full time CrossFit Athlete.
