ATHLETIC BACKGROUND: 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do (20 years) other than that just pick up sports.
WHEN DID YOU HEAR ABOUT CROSSFIT AND HOW DID YOU FIND MAXABILITY: I had heard about it several years ago, but work took up so much time it was difficult to commit. But I hadn’t been exercising in a while and I was getting to be overweight and run-down. I posted on @Reddit r/crossfit asking about gyms in the area and @pownerr told me to check out Maxability.
HEALTHY EATING HABITS: I knew I would need to change my diet, however as soon as I started doing burpees, it became clear that the extra weight was making CrossFit much harder than it needed to be. I knew I needed to get serious about my diet.
BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT THUS FAR: Losing 60 lbs (and I can run again!)
ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO ARE SCARED TO TRY CROSSFIT: Just come try it. Everyone is super friendly and all of the workouts can be scaled to any fitness level. The great thing about CrossFit is that most of the battle is showing up. Once you are there, it’s easy to get a good workout because of the programming and the community.
FAVORITE PART ABOUT UNLIMITED PLUS: My favorite part is getting to work with the competitors. They have a tremendous amount of experience and they are always willing to help. Unlimited plus has helped me the most with conditioning and the extra work has helped me to achieve my goals. Also, the flexibility of being able to work on my own is great, especially when my schedule does not line up with the regular class times.
SHORT TERM GOAL: Lose 10 more lbs
LONG TERM GOAL: Gain back muscle weight and be able to do ring muscle ups (that might take a while!)
WHY MAXABILITY: The community is very friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone works hard and always helps each other out!
