PROFESSION: Visual Stylist/ Certified Holistic Health coach

FIRST CF EXPERIENCE: I remember there was running in it haha. It was a team of 3 and we couldn’t start the next movement until all the team members finished (Alyssa & AO were on my team). I came back to Maxability after that first workout because it was probably in that moment that I knew Maxability was not like anything I had experienced before and it had been the challenge that I didn’t know I needed.

DOES YOUR RUNNING BACKGROUND HELP/GIVE YOU AN EDGE WITH CF: It most definitely does! I’ve always said that. Some people, particularly in CF, frown upon running, especially long distance. However, it requires a great amount of mental toughness and I have been able to carry that over into CF with its grueling WODs. CF in turn has made me such a stronger runner. Especially since starting Track Practice, a CF endurance program, with Coach Kim D. I’ve PRed my 5k, 10k, half marathon and full marathon times as a result. It’s given me the physical strength that I think I was lacking from running. I’ve gotten faster but haven’t sacrificed my strength in the process.

THOUGHTS ON FUELING YOUR BODY: “You are what you eat” has always been my motto. The food we eat, for the most part, is a direct indication on how our bodies and mind will perform. Eating healthfully keeps me motivated, accountable, energized, and focused. I find that when I’m all of these things, I’m at my best physically as well as professionally. Athletes should really experiment with food and different types of meals. We all have different goals so what may work for one person may not for someone else. But you should know where your food comes from. Eat organic whenever possible and most importantly cook your own food. However, every athlete’s main goal should be optimum health and overall feeling as well as performing at your best!

WHAT KEEPS YOU COMING BACK TO MAXABILITY: I don’t want to sound cliche/like a broken record but it’s the Maxability Community that keeps me coming back! With the popularity of CF, boxes are popping up all over the place. Even ones within a mile of where I live. Sure, I’ve dropped into other boxes but my home is Maxability. It was the first box I had ever walked into and haven’t left. I love the programming, the coaches, the shit talking. I love the atmosphere, the energy, the healthy competition between athletes, and the support. It’s more than just a place to workout. It’s a place of refuge, a sanctuary, a club house. It’s the best hour of my day! There are people that I’ve met & befriended that I probably wouldn’t have if it weren’t for Maxability. We now have a common thread/bond that ties us all together and I think that’s pretty special. These friendships go beyond the gym and I’m very grateful for that. I’m surrounded by people who want more out of life. Who are striving to be fitter, stronger & better than they were yesterday inside and outside of the gym. Another reason is because of the coaching staff and how they make me feel important. Whether it’s a big hello when I walk into the box or if it’s a yell from across the room to help keep me motivated. And somehow, even in a big class, I still feel like I’m getting a one-on-one personal experience. They are just as dedicated to helping you achieve your goals as you are and believe in my potential before I even do. I matter to them.

FAVORITE MEMORY THUS FAR: There have been a few but my most memorable was my first Open in 2013 when I finally got my first DU!!!

PERSONAL GOALS: As of right now, I have my sights set on getting stronger, faster, better and fitter. Heavier squats, Max lifts with great form! I would love to be able to bang out some pull-ups with out the assistance of a band or spotter & string together some toes-to-bar. Of course, muscle ups! But overall, really just applying myself more and instead of saying what I want actually putting action behind it.

FAVORITE MOVEMENTS: Wall balls, box jumps, rowing (anything that I can play to my height advantage)…and running

LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS: Handstand push-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, thrusters (anything that puts me at a height disadvantage lol)
